12/5/23 @6pm
- Holistic Youth Development
- Boys and Girls Club of America provides a holistic approach to youth development by offering a safe and supportive environment for children and teenagers.
- Through a diverse range of programs, including academic support, sports, arts, and character development, the club fosters the overall well-being of young individuals.
- The Club's focus on education, healthy living, and character building equips young people with the skills and values necessary for a successful and fulfilling life.
- Positive Impact of Mentorship
- Mentorship plays a crucial role in shaping the future of young people. The Boys and Girls Club facilitates mentorship programs that connect caring adults with youth in need of guidance.
- Mentors serve as positive role models, offering valuable insights, encouragement, and support to help young individuals navigate life's challenges.
- Research consistently shows that mentorship can have a lasting positive impact on a child's academic performance, self-esteem, and future career prospects.
- Community Engagement and Support
- Boys and Girls Clubs actively engage with local communities, creating a network of support for youth who may face various socio-economic challenges.
- By providing a sense of belonging and community, the Club becomes a second home for many children, offering a refuge from negative influences and promoting a sense of responsibility and accountability.
- The involvement of mentors from the community enhances the support system, creating a collaborative effort to empower young people and help them overcome obstacles they may face in their personal and academic lives.

March 2023
March 2023 Meeting
Held March 7, 2023, 6 p.m.
via Google Meet - https://meet.google.com/ewi-izfi-air
This month’s meeting was informative! David Garcia presented on setting up and using features in Gmail and PowerSchool, such as alerts and notifications. He also showed parents how to email teachers directly from PowerSchool.
Ms. Garcia spoke from a teacher's perspective regarding Google Classroom and PowerSchool. Some insightful tidbits shared included:
- Google Classroom and PowerSchool do not “communicate” with each other, meaning teachers have to take the information submitted in Google Classroom and enter it in PowerSchool.
- Students can submit assignments in Google Classroom that are incomplete yet show parents/guardians that they were “submitted” in Google Classroom.
Therefore, Ms. Garcia encouraged parents to accept the Google Classroom invite to stay on track with their student's classes and assignments.
The Parent Posse's next meeting is on Tuesday, April 4th, at 6 p.m. in B115.
