-
Should any of your personal belongings be lost or damaged on school property, please report the incident to your principal who will give you a property loss claims report. Once you have completed the property loss claims report, submit it back to your principal, who will forward it to the district business office for review and processing. As it relates specifically for certified teachers, the terms of property loss is explained in the teachers bargaining unit contract, Article 11 (d) which states:
“The Board shall indemnify professional certificated employees against any loss, damage, or destruction of previously administratively approved personal property, up to a maximum of four hundred twenty-five (425) dollars, while on duty with the school provided the employee has taken all necessary and reasonable precautions to provide that such loss is not due to negligence as determined by the principal or his/her designee. If the loss, damage, or destruction exceeds four hundred twenty-five (425) dollars the Board shall pay the professional certificated employee's deductible for his/her personal insurance policy plus the four hundred twenty-five (425) dollars, provided that the total liability of the Board and the insurance company shall not exceed the actual loss, damage or destruction."
