Welcome to College and Career Partnerships and Programs Department of Thornton Township High Schools District 205!
The goal of this department is to help students obtain critical career and workforce skills such as higher order thinking skills, problem solving skills, technical skills and teamwork to ensure career and college readiness. We do this through incorporating rigorous academics, college and career readiness, and vocational and service-learning opportunities.
We work with a direct approach in which students set early educational goals through Naviance, our new online career exploration application, which guides our students with their college and career planning. Naviance is also a place to keep a tally of student activities for the required College and Career Portfolio Service Learning points. It also helps students complete the activities portion of college and career applications, and find much needed private and public scholarships, while keeping their counselor apprised of their accomplishments.
District 205 offers numerous college, military, and business/industry visits and other opportunities through students’ College and Career Counselors at each building. In addition, we offer several college tours and an annual HBCU coach bus tour for students during Spring Break. District 205 also offers several college and career fairs at each school, and a bevy of financial aid seminars and FAFSA events for students and their parents.
